Welcome to the Florida Sewing Sew-ciety. Many have asked how we got started, and others are wondering where we are going with this group.

We have learned that Florida sewing friends like each other and want to share educators, ideas, and programs. So a group of us thought it best to organize the Florida Sewing Sew-ciety so that our friends could benefit from the networking and enjoy more sewing opportunities and discounts. We have received our non-profit status with the State of Florida and applied for our 501(c)3 group exemption from the Internal Revenue Service.

All of this has been accomplished through volunteers dedicated to bringing these benefits to our members. In this way we keep our membership dues low. After the first year, 75% of your dues will be returned to the local chapters to provide financial support to your group. Here's why it works: We have a group of dedicated leaders who are all volunteers and very organized. We have no facilities to maintain or rent to pay. Our travel is within the state of Florida, and none of our travel is reimbursed.

Our early efforts received the support of Babylock, which sponsored our 2013 and 2014 FSS Sewing Expo, and Loralie Harris, who donated artwork and time in developing our membership brochure.

Since our official kick-off in September 2011, more than 400 sewing enthusiasts have joined us. We hope you will join us on our exciting sewing journey.
