SPECIAL NOTICE RE: HURRICANE MICHAEL
We hope that you will consider participating in our campaign to sew back packs for the people of the Panama City and adjoining areas. Some of our own members have been affected by Hurricane Michael, yet they are out helping others.
Dee Cornell has led the back pack initiative for the local school district and has some guidelines that will be helpful.
A new member donated money for fabric with which we have purchased nylon rip stock fabric (light weight and waterproof). Another event is being funded by Thrivent Insurance which will enable us to purchase more fabric and organize a Sew In for the back packs.
Back Packs will be delivered directly to the Panhandle area by members of our Board. Networking among our chapters will enable us to coordinate delivery. Our goal is to deliver them no later than the first week of December.
UPDATE: As of December 8 we have delivered over 100 backpacks to the Panhandle area.
